I teach in a high poverty school where some students assume they are destined for failure just because of their lack of resources. Our school cannot afford to purchase new books for all students, so many novels are actually falling apart! My students are amazing and have so much to contribute to their classes and the world. I want them, both boys and girls, engaged in a book that pushes them to challenge their thinking and that allows them to the opportunity to increase their reading level. Plus, they would be sharing this experience with teachers (myself and my co-teacher in my class that includes students with disabilities) who are absolutely crazy about The Hunger Games!!
