My students are complex and unique individuals that all come to school with different experiences in their figurative backpacks. Some of my students are refugees from war-torn countries and some have experienced trauma in their own homes. Whatever they bring to school with them, they know that our classroom is a safe place to explore and practice their skills.
This project would allow me and my students with learning disabilities and a variety of language abilities to flourish. A classroom listening center provides consistent practice and a clear path to reading progress. This is where you come in. Your donation will support students with the highest needs in Oakland. My students present with a range of disabilities, but the thing they have in common is that they have a teacher who believes in them and wants them to learn to read above all else. As a class, we know that reading is a key to unlock the doors of our futures. With this project, we will get the opportunity to fulfill our potential as a group of learners.
