Our school is a Title 1 school located in a rural area of South Carolina. Many of my students come from low socio-economic backgrounds. These students don't have as many opportunities to watch the news, look at current events on the Internet, or simply discuss what's going on in our world with their parents. The Social Studies materials that we have only focus on the past events of our nation's history.
