I have a wonderful class composed of 22 English Learners, two of which are newcomers to the United States. 100% percent of my students qualify for free lunch. I have a variety of reading levels in my class which makes it difficult for them to find the right book in our small collection of books. In addition, they have very few opportunities to explore new books at home or at the public library. My students love reading time and are motivated to improve their reading goals using Accelerated Reader, which requires them to check out books at their reading level. I can tell their excitement for reading has increased since we took our last Accelerated Reader test and their reading level scores went up.
