My classroom is very diverse. We have students from the neighborhood, students from Mexico and Central America and refugee students from South East Asia. We are at a large public elementary school with over 600 students! We are located in the inner city and almost all families are in poverty. You wouldn't know of the struggles they face when you meet their smiling faces and feel the positive atmosphere of our classroom. Many of them have experienced loss of loved ones, neighborhood violence and financial struggle. But each day they come here eager to learn and grow. They are a pretty amazing bunch of kids!
