Our Lunch Bunch Book Club is diverse. We have males and females that represents diverse populations. My students are eager readers who thrive and thirst for the next book! They are committed to our monthly meetings and I had to add a blog due to their excitement and need to talk about the book. Many books we have read touched on realistic topics like death, bulimia, school tragedies, mental health, and more! My students really relate to these worldly topics as they make life to text connections and engage in debates! My students learn how to respectfully discuss books even when they did not always agree with what others perceive, believe, or support. Like many high schools, it is believed that high school students do not read, but my club which grows each year proves that reading at the high school level exists. Our Club, unfortunately, has been challenged due to budget cuts. There isn't money allocated for clubs of this sort, which is why we seek out funding for books.
