My school is located in a low income industrial neighborhood that provides many challenges for it's students. One of these challenges includes just getting to school safely. All of our students qualify for free lunch and participate in the Food Pantry program. My students attend class in 1 of 10 portable bungalows that were added to address the population growth in the neighborhood. These bungalows are dilapidated and are ill suited for educating the future leaders of our society. Though their surroundings may be bleak our students are happy and loving children who are eager to learn. They have learned to blossom through adversity and consider our school a haven and second home. My students have limited accessibility to technology at home. For many, the one day a week they attend the Computer Lab is the only opportunity for them to learn the skills they need to become successful students and further their education. We need resources to succeed in educating our students.
