My students go to a school that has very few trees and two small patches of grass. Their playground and "soccer field" is blacktop. Through the stories we have read, they have learned about green schools and recycling. We recycle and reuse in our classroom and they are conscious about trying to "save the planet." These strips and mats would be a way to save paper since they are constantly used during instruction, guided practice, and independent work time.
