Look who is talking now! My early childhood classrooms with children ages 3, 4, and 5 years old focus on building children's prior knowledge and vocabulary skills. Many of my students enter the class speaking only a few words at home. We provide students with a language rich curriculum to help them understand and communicate their wants, needs, and knowledge. Parents are amazed by the end of the year at how much their child's vocabulary has increased. Currently we need a Califone Card Reader and Recorder so we are able to record common phrases for the students to listen to and then repeat. We continue to build on the students success and work our way up to independent student communication without the prompting by the card reader. In the past this program has been successful with our students demonstrating severe language delays.
