My students are amazing, brilliant, hilarious beings whose openness and curiosity inspire me every day. They are very diverse racially and socio-economically, though most of them qualify for free lunch and lack basic supplies needed for school. Additionally, many of my students face challenges and difficult realities that some adults never have to confront. I believe that if I am doing my job well, my students see school as a refuge, as a stable second home in which they are known, loved, and pushed to be their best.
