While math is frequently hands-on, it is difficult to complete hands-on activities without the resources needed to do so. I want my students to be creative and learn hands-on as much as possible and I believe empowering students through artistic, hands-on activities is a way to enhance their learning in all subject areas. Many online resources are available for students to use, however, we are limited to only 1 classroom computer to incorporate such resources. By attaining the touchscreen laptop computer, my students will have a greater opportunity to create their own tessellation and then find the area, perimeter, and volume of various parts of the tessellation. By giving students the opportunity to create their own object in which they are measuring, it will allow them to be more involved in the activity.
This laptop computer would offer my students access to online resources allowing them to be more involved and take responsibility for their own work. My students will get a chance to be creative in this activity by creating their own tessellation and then finding the area, perimeter, and volume of their object. My students would greatly benefit by having this resource in this classroom!
