My students are first through third graders with special needs. I have students with autism, learning disabilities, speech difficulties, and fine motor difficulties. I teach in a city school where the majority of the students qualify for free lunch and the families are struggling to make ends meet. Even with these difficulties, my students come to school every day eager to learn and can't wait to apply the skills they have learned. Our school has just been authorized as an International Baccalaureate School and with this authorization the level of instruction has shifted to an inquiry type of instruction where hands-on is a must.
