My students are bright and eager to learn. Seeing their faces light up when they learn something new is the reason that I became a teacher. Unfortunately, my students face many challenges living in a very poor neighborhood. Most do not have educationally enriching activities in their homes. Many do not even have books to read. 100% of the students at my school receive free lunches due to their extreme poverty. My students' families would love to be able to help their child's classroom or the school as a whole but they cannot.
To make matters worse, the school has suffered devastating budget cuts in recent years. Recently, when studying the life of Dr. King, one of my students wrote about her dream for a better future. She wrote,"I have a dream that one day schools will have enough money to buy supplies for children to learn." Through "Donors Choose", you can help make her dreams for a better future a reality.
