We teach Pre-K autistic students.They have many different personalities and abilities. Since all of them have IEP's they have individualized goals to achieve in social/emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development skills. Some of our students have significant speech delays, which sometimes cause behavior issues and frustration. Many of our students have low fine motor skills and have difficulty manipulating a computer mouse. Our is a magnet school that focuses on engineering. We incorporate S.T.E.M. into every classroom.The S.T.E.M. units that we develop and implement as a school are directly aligned with the new Common Core standards for the state of North Carolina.
