My students have a curiosity about the world that both inspires and challenges my teaching. In a school-wide Title I school with high poverty and transiency rate, my students have managed to break the equation of high poverty = low standardized test scores. 92% of my students scored advance or proficient in the state test this past year. 6 of my students tested Gifted. They all share a passion for learning and discovering the world around them. Unfortunately, with all the uncertainties facing their families and our school community, it is sometimes difficult for my students to see a brighter tomorrow. I work hard to provide my students with as many hands-on science opportunities as possible. Like most teachers, I spend a lot of my own money to supplement real life materials to enhance their learning. But I can't do it on my own any more. I strongly believe that my students are deserving of a better tomorrow.
