Technology has proved to be an effective motivational learning tool in my third grade classroom. Students engage in writing activities, reading, research projects, problem solving, and much more using the computers and Internet available in the classroom. My 24 third graders are comfortably becoming technology proficient while improving learning skills in all academic areas. One of the challenges that we face is the limited access to a printer. We share a malfunctioning black and white printer with four other classrooms. That is, about 100 students and 4 adults sharing the same device. This limits students to print their final projects, information needed for research, and presentations. We are a Title 1 school located in the heart of a city in California. Despite the challenges and limitations that the community presents, students are eager to learn and have a positive attitude towards school.
