I work with developmentally disabled middle school students. My class is known for being some of the most kind and caring kids in the school (and I would have to agree.) I currently have 6 students and they each have unique strengths and weaknesses. My class inspires me each day and I hope with this grant I can help to inspire them even more. Currently they have access to an iPad a few times a week. When the iPad is in the room, the students are on their best behavior waiting for their turn. I have been able to use the apps on the device to help the students learn and generalize fine motor, communication, socialization, math, reading, and leisure skills just to name a few. Seeing my students able to use an electronic device that their general education peers are using is priceless.
