I teach in a class of 2nd and 3rd graders in a school that is at 82% free and reduced. That means we have many at-risk students who do not have the resources that more affluent students would have access to. We are a small school, with only 10 classrooms but we are a strong and mighty community. The staff works hard to reach out to these students and get them ready and educated with the 21st century skills.
Because of our diverse group of students, we have 6 of our 10 classes as multi-age in order to better meet their needs. I have a wide range of abilities ranging from low Kindergarten to high 4th grade function. We are a school that stresses the importance of going to college. Students won't be successful in college if they don't have well developed technology skills.
