Our campus is located in one of the most low income areas of the country, and California school districts are fighting economic turmoil. For most of our students English is a second language, stacking the cards against them from multiple angles, caught amongst bureaucracy that they do not understand. It is because of these factors that students must have a sense of pride and connection to their work. As growing teenagers they are caught amidst the pressures of self identification, but with influences of neighborhood gangs, our students more than ever need a source that reflects ways in which they are great. This project truly allows them to make choices, empowering them with ways to make positive growth globally.
