My first grade class is an enthusiastic bunch who is getting the bug to read. The public school is in a high poverty area were funding is limited. I am trying to update my classroom library so it is filled with eye catching books that are at the appropriate level for my students to read. I also asked for reading journals so I can incorporate writing and reading together, which is an important skill for my first grade students to learn. My classroom is very diverse which helps to make each day exciting and full of surprises. I am hoping that each student will be able to find a new favorite book that they can lost in.
