I teach math and science to over seventy 6th graders at a Title 1, high needs, high poverty middle school in northern California. I work in a collaborative cohort with 3 other 6th grade teachers. Our students are predominantly Latino, African-American and Asian. They engage best when faced with a real life problem that exists in their community. This year we are doing a project focusing on healthy communities. Our students love STEM activities and all hands-on learning.
