This project is inspired by my amazing students who asked for playground balls, so they can be actively engaged in team sports at recess and P.E. They say how they love P.E., but wish that we had more variety in our equipment. They want to get exposed to different sports in 5th grade so that they will be skilled enough in those sports when they go to middle school.
While thinking of ideas of how our classroom could be more active, my students suggested that we obtain more playground balls, basketballs, and soccer balls to be used during recess and PE class due to the ones we currently have becoming flat or damaged from overuse. Students are wishing to have more balls so that the teams playing basketball and soccer don't have to be so large due to only having a few balls to share with the entire class.
