I teach students from grades 9 through 12. A small percentage of our students are refugee students. They came to the United States through camps. To be able to have the luxury of seeing and doing art without having to worry about survival,is not something this population has had. Most do not not read, having the magazines gives them a chance to practice reading about art that interests them.
