I work with elementary ELL students who are from low income families. They struggle with the English language and as a result struggle with reading and math. I serve the struggling math students. 99% of the students at my school are on free and reduced lunch and approximately 90% are from non-English speaking families. Most of their families are not educated, and are not available to provide support at home. Most of my students already demonstrate a lack of hope. They are so far behind, that they believe that they cannot get caught up.
