My classroom is a transitional kindergarten program. The students in the program are four and five years old. The students are preparing for kindergarten by engaging in activities that teach through academic play opportunities. They are bright and active learners. Their day is filled with curriculum that incorporates literacy, writing, singing, dramatic play, science, and math. Some of their favorite things include drawing and exploring their environment. We have an outdoor play yard that allows the students to investigate living creatures. The students love to find insects, make habitats, and learn how to care for the animals they find. When engaged in these activities the students activities incorporate art, math, science, and literacy skills.
