learn. My students all have varying disabilities. Some students have limited mobility, but regardless of abilities all of my students need opportunities for physical activity. We need a variety of materials for students with different health concerns, and ability to play and be physically active. These materials will help all students be active in some form, while having fun. At times we have students who are not able to access our playground equipment, and some students that have social skill deficits, and these materials would allow students to play together, work on functional communication and social skills, as well as give them an opportunity to play, move around, and learn. For example, the basketball goal will allow smaller students, bigger students, and students in wheelchairs to participate in a basketball game, and can also give opportunities for them to practice taking turns and using communication skills to share. The physical activity kit which includes bean bags jump ropes, hula hoops, etc., will allow students of any physical ability to work on fine and gross motor skills, as well as get essential physical movement time during recess. Several of my students are unable to access the school playground due to physical limitations or size, and the balls, hula hoops an other equipment gives them something to play with so that every student gets an opportunity to play and have fun, while getting some exercise while we are outside. The sensory balls are also extremely important for students with sensory needs, who can use them to calm themselves as they are designed to meet their needs.
