My students come form different countries. A lot of them are ESL students. They appreciate seeing "math" and love working on class projects. Many students come from difficult home situations, where education does not mean a lot. Some of them already help their parents with housework and taking care of younger siblings. They go to public schools. They come from rather poor families. They are not able to bring required supplies for math projects. Math projects are a great tool in filing in a gap of math knowledge a lot of my students have.
