I teach Adapted Physical Education (APE), PE for students with disabilities. My students attend school on a general education elementary campus in a Special Day classroom. I teach the students who attend the two Special Day classrooms, K-2nd grade and 3rd-5th grade. My students have disabilities including Autism, Intellectual Disability (formerly Mental Retardation), Down Syndrome, Seizure disorders and OHI issues(other health impairment). Many of my students are non-verbal. I teach a wide variety of skills (kicking, catching, throwing), games (modified baseball, scooter boards, modified hockey, etc) and musical activities (move fast/slow, freeze when the music stops, gallop like a horse, etc). I am constantly learning from my students and trying to improve my lessons to give my students the best exposure to physical activities. I want them to enjoy being active at school and in the community.
