My students attend a 6-8 middle school building with 8-900 other students. Class sizes are 20-30. Students included in all classes may be learning disabled, behaviorally challenged, Autistic, Aspergers, ESL, or emotionally challenged. All of this in classrooms often with only 1 teacher. Many of the students who have challenges are also from lower income families or may be in foster care. These students do not have access to technology at home and may be behind their peers academically and socially. As more people lose their jobs the economic conditions in our area are creating an environment of lower income families and students in need. Many of these students love school and try very hard to learn. Our building is their safe place and a time to get away from all of the difficulties at home. To make learning easier for them would be a dream come true for many of these students.
