These books will be part of a social justice unit for 6th graders. Students will engage in literature circles to think critically about injustices in the world around them, discuss their own experiences with racism and inequality, and listen to the experiences of others.
They will discuss how far we have to go and what they can do to make the world a better place.
These books will spark the conversations necessary to make some good trouble and make a difference in the world. We can no longer ignore social justice - it must become an integral part of our curriculum.
