The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students are supplies that will help surround the students with a culture in the classroom of fun while learning. Using Pinterest for support, teachers, admin, and support staff suggested these games to integrate them into writing, language arts, reading, math, social studies, and science time.
Our classroom will be a safe and fun environment where my students and English Language students will feel and be safe to collaborate in groups in games that will help support their reading as well as strengthen their vocabulary that will support them across the board in all areas.
Using Jenga, Connect 4, Battleship, Twister, as familiar games to students helps them mesh together current curriculum objectives with some good game play. They will not even realize they are working because they are having so much fun. For example, in language arts, using Jenga we will be able to practice parts of speech. Labeling all the Jenga blocks students will pick a block. Depending on the block, it may be nouns, adjectives, verbs, conjunctions. Students will have to show their understanding each time they choose a block. With battleship, we can use it with math and multiplication. There are so many ideas and fun ways we can use these games.
