I teach in a suburban middle school in Maryland. My students are in grades 6-8 . They are eager to learn music, listen to it and create it! Our school has a large African-American, Hispanic and native African population with a 49% of the students on free and reduced meals. Many of our students cannot purchase the necessary supplies needed for success in instrumental music. Our school's funding is limited and as a result, we are not able to purchase the many supplies that our students need to encourage and develop their creativity in music performance! We have good kids at our school - they are willing to learn, they just need opportunities and encouragement!
