My students strive to be their best selves each and every day that they walk through the door. They are passionate about learning. Above all else, they want what every kids wants, to be loved, supported, and given opportunities to succeed. In our classroom we learn early on that fair does not mean equal and that everyone gets what they need. The needs of my students vary but having a classroom that supports their needs is essential for them all. Our school is located in an urban, high needs, low income district. Many students are English Language Learners. We are an extended day school which means that students spend 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week, in school. This provides amazing opportunities for extended learning time and enrichment but also means that it is extra important that our classrooms are warm, inviting, and, most of all, engaging spaces for children to spend their longer school days.
