Whiteboards are a great way to engage students and get quick feedback on understanding and gaps. Students are willing to take risks because it is easy to erase and they feel like the teacher writing on the board. We use them for think, pair, share, math practice, lists of anything, class voting, new ideas, writing drafts...
Basic supples mean we spend our time learning, rather than looking for materials. With a pencil pouch, each child practices responsibility and care for their belongings rather than relying on the teacher to track supplies.
We need water bottles, please! Covid has shut down the fountains and learners get thirsty!
