I'm a virtual Reading Specialist sitting at my dining room table and my 1st grade students are virtual learners meeting with me from their homes. The parents of my students have elected to continue virtual learning for the remainder of the school year. My students are identified as struggling readers, and our time together is for Reading Intervention; we see and talk to each other, do phonological activities, and read books together. To "show" things to each other we hold them up to our laptop cameras. Activities, books or objects that share best from a horizontal tabletop cannot be shared in this way. The document camera I've requested in this project will permit me to more effectively share with my students, helping us to work together to improve their reading.
