The students I serve are FANTASTIC! They are students who face adversities of socioeconomic status, community happenings, and sometimes, personal issues that affect their learning ability. They live in a community encompassed with several negative aspects of life: drugs, alcohol, crime, and educational deficiencies. Our school serves over 500 students, many 2-3 grade levels behind in learning. A great number of our students come from families that do not have the financial ability to provide technological opportunities for students at home. In fact, many of our families are unemployed or underemployed. Regardless of their personal issues faced daily, our students show up almost daily with a hope of learning something new. It is my desire that our school, my classroom, will benefit greatly from the inclusion of these new computers.
