My students resist reading because it's not usually supported at home. I try to give them a comfortable environment that encourages the embrace of reading. This environment is truly different from the urban environment in which my kids are being raised. I'm trying to create a utopia in their world for them to retreat to and take safe haven in. Hopefully, they will always associate reading with this safe, comfortable feeling.

About my class
