A commitment like this is life-changing when you take into account the challenges that my students have faced during their six year journey. They began their educations at my school when our campus was housed in an abandoned warehouse that lacked functional equipment, but was armed with devoted teachers, families and students who were willing to live the words "whatever it takes" and change the current standard. They come from an economically disadvantaged community, but are ready to be examples to their neighbors of what is possible when they graduate this year ready to take on their new adventures at a four-year college or university. These struggling, inner-city kids are living proof that with dedication and tenacity, the odds can be beaten.
