The students at Bronx Charter School for Excellence strive for excellence. In this highly competitive school the students I work with find themselves frustrated in trying to keep up with their peers. As a First Grade Special Education teacher, I work in an Integrated Co-teaching classroom. I have looped with this group of children from kindergarten to first. I primarily work with a small group of students with learning disabilities, speech and language impairment, fine motor difficulties and autism. They often require differentiated instruction to help them to complete a given task. Throughout the day I must step out of the classroom with my group to pre-teach, re-teach or teach a skill that is not being taught in the classroom.
