I am the teacher of 18 students who come from a variety of backgrounds. My students are coming from primarily low income households. They are always wanting to learn something new and soak up my teaching like a sponge! They are attending a Title 1 School where more than 80% of the students qualify for free/reduced lunch. Several students in my class are ESOL and are learning English as a second language. Often times these students are told that they cannot have something because it cost too much. I want to be the person that shows my students that it is never too early to dream BIG! It would be a dream come true for my students to have a place to store all of their math manipulatives so that during the math block, they will be able to access all the necessary materials needed to solve each math problem. My students do not have access to a variety of books at home so having the small bookcase will provide a "spotlight" area for me to display books that relate to themes.
