My 3rd grade students are from a low income urban school. I would say 40% of the students do not come in with school supplies as they can not afford. Granted, I put in a lot of my own money buying simple supplies for them. However, this does not deter their love for learning!!! They love to learn and seem to soak up the knowledge that is taught.
