I have an amazing group of sixth graders. Some of them are avid readers, but others need that extra push by providing high interest books for them. Having the books displayed in the classroom draws attention to them and encourages students to read.
Since most of my students come from low income families, many do not have extra money to spend on books at home. Although they have access to the school and public libraries, transportation and motivation are often an issue. Having the books in the classroom will make them easily accessible.
