I am creating a Social-Emotional bookshelf to share with my students. SEL books are the on ramp of learning and hold tremendous transformative power. With a strong tool box of social/emotional skills, kids are better able to cope with everyday challenges. These lessons are described and detailed in the stories and provide the students the connection to observe and reflective on their own resilience, compassion, understanding and kindness. These stories in turn, effectively weave social, emotional, and academic components into the fabric of our classroom community.
When children use their imagination, these stories lift off of the page and come to life. Their curiosity is sparked, their hearts are full and they know that THEY have the power to choose and to make a positive impact in their world.
