There are about 7 headphones for a class of 29. The noise from reading programs added to a mix of students who struggle with self control and your average 5th grader who finds farting hilarious, and quiet moments are hard to maintain. Headphones for each student would allow everyone to access the programs they need without disrupting the class. I also recently started a new peace keeping strategy where I allow my kiddos with self control and behavior issues to listen to white noise while they work to help tune out distractions and it's helped bring calm and peace to our class.
