This is an Elementary School Severely Handicapped classroom with 2nd and 3rd graders who have a variety of health issues. My students have a diagnosis of Autism, Down Syndrome, Gray Matter Heterotopia, and a variety of other needs. We are located in Pasadena, California. Willard Elementary School is a Title 1 school. I have students of diverse needs, socioeconomic statuses, cultural backgrounds, and ability levels. Although my students are in 2nd and 3rd grade, multiple students are nonverbal and have physical impairments. Every new experience is fascinating to my students and they appreciate everything we are able to do. Weekly we do community walking field trips to help the students learn how to cross a street safely, how to recognize street signs, how to purchase items such as an ingredient towards a recipe we then make in the classroom. I work at an amazing school, with absolutely incredible students!
