My students are from a high poverty inner city school in Iowa. They come from many different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Many of my students are English Language Learners and do not speak much English at all. For many of them, my classroom is their first experience with school. Even with all of their disadvantages, they have an excitement for reading, writing and learning. They love to be able to share their ideas in pictures and with writing.
