The goal of my incentive program is to provide reinforcement for students who display positive behaviors that reflect a dedication to learning and social responsibility. Incentives are awarded to students who consistently do the right thing, and go above and beyond expectations. This project will also be used to support my cell-phone free classroom. As we know, cell phones can be a large distraction for many teenagers. In my classroom, snacks are provided for students who choose to go cell phone free and dedicate their time in class solely to learning. Students are always arriving to class hungry and malnourished so they welcome the opportunity to trade in their electronics in exchange for breakfast or a snack. The incentive program is designed to improve classroom climate and culture among the EI students by providing positive behavioral supports and reinforcing the four core values of Excel: Responsibility, Respect, Citizenship and Grit.
