I have the joy of having my students for all three middle school years. This allows us to build relationships and create memories over a longer time than most teachers and students have. My students all have cognitive impairments that challenge them on a daily, sometimes hourly basis. Many are from families that do not have the means to provide community activities that we try to expose them to. My school is overall a low socio-economic school and that extends into my classroom. I have several students who have speech impairments. I also have a mixed population of students with different ethnic backgrounds, which we try to celebrate.
