My students go to a Title 1 school in a poor neighborhood. Some of them go without food some days, because their parents can't afford it. For some of them the highlight of the day is actually going to school. At school they have air conditioning, food, and water. At home their lives are chaotic; never knowing exactly what will happen. School is their anchor.
