My students are hungry. Hungry for love, warmth, safety and knowledge. They want to know that people care about them. My students come from very diverse backgrounds. Some of my students do not know where they will be staying each night. They come from very rough backgrounds and harsh circumstances. The school where I teach would be considered an inner city school. The student here would be labeled as kids that nobody else wanted. However, these students have a capacity to love like none I have ever seen. They are eager to learn and rise above their circumstances. They want to prove that they can be successful no matter what background they come from. They just need the materials necessary to engage them in meaningful lessons.
